Kill or Cure? Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer affects more than 493,000 women each year and leads to more than 270,000 deaths worldwide. But cervical cancer is easy to prevent, both through screening and treatment and, now, through vaccination against human papillomavirus, or HPV.

This seven-minute film shows how simple screening tests and community mobilization are saving lives across India. And it shows how Costa Rican scientists—and young female volunteers—are helping us understand the exciting potential of a new HPV vaccine.

Produced by Rockhopper and PATH for the BBC World "Kill or Cure?" series, the full, 24-minute version of the film originally aired in 2005.
