American Society for Reproductive

ASRM is a professional organization with an international membership, consisting
primarily of physicians and other health professionals. Infertility is
a major area of interest. ASRM sponsors a journal, meetings, and courses
for its members as well as this web site. The web site offers educational
materials and services designed for patients, health professionals, and
media professionals. It includes the policy statements, minimum standards,
and practice guidelines promulgated by ASRM Practice and Ethics Committees.

The June 2001 issue of Changemakers.net spotlights the struggle of women
unable to bear children in societies that deny such women economic, social,
and ritual status. The issue features the work of two social entrepreneurs
in India and Zimbabwe who are helping childless women gain status, access
to education, reproductive health care, and helping them find ways to support
each other while building a greater awareness of these issues through outreach
and media programs. They are part of a worldwide movement to redefine reproductive
health care delivery programs to include a broader range of women's concerns.

The most comprehensive of all infertility resources online, INCIID is a
non-profit educational organization dedicated to providing comprehensive
and timely information on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infertility
over the Internet. While its primary audience is infertile couples, INCIID
also provides information of interest to the health professional. It offers
detailed fact sheets on specific causes, diagnoses, and treatments of infertility;
interactive bulletin boards moderated by medical experts; news about infertility
technologies and treatments; an international calendar of infertility seminars,
conferences, and meetings; and links to other online infertility resources.

This public education and advocacy group provides support and information
to individuals suffering from infertility in the U.S. The site offers advice
on deciding whether one is suffering from an infertility problem, selecting
an infertility specialist, finding a support group, and locating information
online.
World Health Organization

WHO sponsored the largest study on the epidemiology of infertility and has
created a standardized approach to the diagnosis of infertile couples.
The prevention of infertility is one of the current objectives of WHO's
reproductive health program (HRP). The program's focus is on improving the
diagnosis and treatment of reproductive tract infections in order to limit
the tubal damage and subsequent infertility associated with these infections.
Current initiatives by the Technology Development & Assessment component
include the development of a simple, inexpensive kit for the diagnosis of
gonorrhea and other STIs and research into a vaccine against chlamydia.

a large section on fertility and infertility, with many links to other sites
